I had a really bad experience with a Roofing contractor in MA.

Basically the contractor was unresponsive and I mad that the primary point of my review. He also had to come back multiple times to complete the project and the new homeowner has informed me that the work was still incorrect and the roof it leaking.

After seeing my Angies list review, the contractor started threatening me with legal action if I did not take it down. I went through the review with a fine tooth comb and updated all the dates to be 100% accurate. Fortunately for me instead of returning my calls the contractor choose to converse with me over email. So I have proof of all the conversations I listed in the review. Unfortunately some of my original timeline was inaccurate, but I made an earnest effort to correct any inaccuracies.

After the contractor was unable to get Angies list to take down the review, he sent me a letter in the mail offering me $300 dollars to take the review down also stating in that letter “Your review has not done any damage to my business” I saved the letter and the priority mail envelop that it came it. It has the postage and tracking information on it. In that same letter he said if I did not take the money he would no longer pursue the issues. So I considered this awful experience resolved.

He then hired a very unprofessional law firm in CO to threaten legal action against me. I responded with a copy of the letter that the contractor sent me offering me money to take the review down. They never responded. I updated my review to include these details.

I now live in CO and after coming home from my honeymoon, I came home to a summons to court in MA. The summons states that my ‘Original’ review contained inaccuracies that defamed this roofer, and he is suing for $24,000 dollars. How he arrived at that figure is not listed.
